Sewing And Computers

March 31st, 2011 posted by admin

The art of sewing is slowly vanishing from the handsof craftsmen as more and more people start to focus the production of goods through computerized technologies. China is a perfect example. With its thousands of dollars invested in computer technology replacing human labor in the making of toys, clothing and other sewing-related manufacturing, the people with experience in the area are being absolutely replaced by automatic devices. The production does not stop even at night, and the Chinese factories release tons of production monthly exatcly through paying less for labor and taking advantage of machines.

The stiches are so precise that they might well duplicate a perfect Henderson Cisz picture on the back of a teddy bear. And that’s not all that the machines make. They make stronger stiches, replacing the human factor. There is no place for mistakes as the software controls the exact movements of the needle and coordinates the exact correspondance of every stich in a separate work. This is how China has already replaced the amazing human sewing works.

But how can we develop this craft under the condition that Chinese goods are overtaking every market? Even if we want to save this art, people are more likely to buy a Chinese toy rather than the one prepared by human hands simply because the Chinese one would be cheaper, easier to find and most importantly, lacking any clumsiness or sort of mistake. Even if there is, a refund might be available and the person would easily repair his mistake of buying a defect product.
