The Rising Popularity of Craft Groups
It is fast becoming a feature within the world of Facebook. Thousands of people are joining and it would be surprising if you haven’t been invited. The group is a craft group, and its mission is to reclaim craft from the stereotype that only older women do it. It’s fast becoming a hip and happening thing with the younger generation, groups are cropping up all over the UK. I have many friends who go to knitting groups and they all say that it’s a very relaxing way to create something and socialise. There are many people who hate socialising in pubs and nightclubs but equally hated fast paced groups such as spin class or aerobics. My friends lead very busy, high powered lives and do not need more high powered activity as a way to socialise. Knitting clubs make them feel refreshed and energised and I am more than happy to receive a knitted scarf or two. These craft clubs work in the same way, except they involve more than knitting. It is really about expressing your creativity and learning from others. Getting together with a group of like minded craft enthusiasts will help you to learn new and exciting techniques. Just like Teaching English Jobs, teaching craft is about communication and co operation. If you are new to the whole craft or knitting club phenomenon, then you will spend a lot of time watching and learning as your new friends teach you things that you will no doubt continue to do for years to come. Craft work and knitting are incredibly therapeutic methods. The mind turns down the life noise as you place your concentration into bead or needle work and you talk quietly to your companions. These groups are also great for creating and sustaining new friendships. There are a number of benefits to joining one of these clubs and making great items that you can use is just one of them.
